The National Safety Council of Singapore (NSCS) was first known as The National Safety First Council of Singapore when it was inaugurated on 1st July 1966 by Dr. Goh Keng Swee, the then Singapore Minister of Defence.

NSCS's first president, Mr. Milton Tan contributed 38 years to the Organisation from 1966-2004.

NSCS started out focusing specifically on road safety aiming to raise road safety awareness to the public. However, in order to keep up with moving times and developments,NSCS also explored into several other aspects of safety including workplace safety & health, home safety and even child safety. NSCS promote safety through a variety of courses and projects such as:-

  • Defensive Driving & Basc Vehicle Maintenance Course
  • Foreign Domestic Worker Safety Awareness Course (FDW SAC)
  • Safe Riding Programmes and rallies
  • Local & Regional WSH Conferences and Seminars
  • WSH Accredited & Non-Accredited Courses for Workers

Our Objectives

Devoted to promoting safety, NSCS work in collaboration with various Government agencies, employer organisations, workers unions,  grassroots organisations and many other professional bodies from the industry to achieve our common goal in raising safety awareness in all prospects of safety, especially safety precautions and prevention of accidents.
