We at the National Safety Council of Singapore (NSCS) have been dedicatedly striving since 1965 to promote safety not only in workplaces but in our roads, our schools, in our recreational activities and even in our homes. With the covid endemic our work has become even more pressing.

Accidents in workplaces and other premises has caused much pain, suffering and anguish to victims and untold misery to their family members. In the last 2 years, a total of 69 workers lost their lives in workplace accidents and so far, this year such accidents in workplaces have claimed the lives of 30 workers.

Also, in 2020 alone, 85 persons were killed in road accidents. Many more persons suffered major injuries requiring months of medical treatment and rehabilitation. Their lives will never be the same again. We should do everything possible to prevent such accidents and injuries. In this regard, the NSCS runs safety training courses, provides safety consultancy services and organizes safety talks, seminars and conferences to promote safety.

In the light of the above, I am writing to humbly seek your kind support. We require a budget of $500,000 to effectively run and manage our programmes. And we need all the help we can get.
